Portland Haiku

light, staying up late,
pushing my eyes wide open,
until the late hours.

a late night sitting
inside, against the dark heat.
thinking hot and slow.

longer days with light,
and shorter nights come with it.
summer rolls forward.

golden sun drifting,
crossing the sky blue ocean.
clouds trailing behind.

daylight growing long,
with each passing day it seems.
summer approaches.

a brief light shines down,
illuminating new paths,
opened by karma.

golden heat pouring
out across the deep blue sky.
white clouds reaching high.

seeking through my life,
on a twisting path of paths.
which way should i go?

the child sleeps soundly,
but for how long i wonder?
i embrace her dreams.

weary of movement,
i sit and decelerate,
trying to slow time.
