Portland Haiku

Looks like I missed a few days. This is what happens when life speeds up and you forget to stop and smell the roses. So, on with the smelling of some roses.

Apologies for the lack of haiku over the past few days. Unforeseen circumstances kept me away from internet access, but now I’m back and with that comes the daily haiku.

I received a haiku from a friend that broke from what I understood to be the correct 5-7-5 format. So I, of course, checked out the wikipedia entry for haiku.

So now I’ve learned a little more about the structure, ideas, and origin of haiku and will try to add that to my writing. Expect some breaking from the 5-7-5 format, and more topics other than nature, which I admittedly have been focusing on.

I missed my first day yesterday. Definitely not my last time, but alas, my first. My intention is to update this site daily, I believe that I am up to the task. I hope that you enjoy it, and will continue to read as my haiku continues to improve.
