Portland Haiku

february break
has ended; here comes the rain,
and the cold again.

cold, wet, bright and green.
a silvery sky shimmers,
the clouds saunter by.

my soul steels itself,
from the coming cold; bracing,
for a dark season.

cold mornings turn to
bright autumn days full of clouds.
white cotton skyward.

cold sunny gray days,
lost in the thought of waiting,
for summer release.

cold, wet, rain falling,
a chilly breeze nicks and cuts.
i pull up my hood.

rain falls, not so cold.
very wet, all it touches.
i try to stay dry.

outside the window
dull gray skies, cold, wet, windy.
waiting for green leaves.

rain begins falling.
cool drops spatter, turning cold.
wet sounds all around.

cold, wet, and rainy.
now our winter has arrived.
it will stay around.
