Portland Haiku

glad to see the sun,
staying up a bit longer.
day light savings time.

i wish i had the time,
but it would seem i do not.
so here we all are.

never enough time,
struggling just to finish.
never time to sleep.

late in the basement,
a lamp shines bright overhead.
its light hiding time.

small ones slipping by,
on wings of time, growing up,
becoming themselves.

weary of movement,
i sit and decelerate,
trying to slow time.

time becomes languid,
seeping past, covering all,
trailing memories.

time slips by like wind
unseen, but felt around me.
breathing in and out.

breathing slowly out,
i stop moving, time stands still.
it is mine, for now.

no time left for me.
i sneak, hide, and steal some light.
there it is, far off…
